World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a single unit. In some cases this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon upgrades on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. While this is generally an excellent thing however, it could have negative effects as well. For items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.
Armor items can be upgraded to boost their effectiveness. This can increase the defense of a chest or helm as well as belts and gloves. These will increase their required strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reduce its value.
The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats that it will get when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will strike for 3 times less often as it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has arrows that circle in the menu for items. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind to account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE increases in resistance to poison, curses, fire, and magic. This can make it easier to get through difficult terrains. In general, the more defense you can offer your character, the more health you'll receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and in order to unlock each one you have to complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the primary side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain and then you can talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. For example the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a decent-sized group of adversaries in most cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to survive the full-on assault with a handful of friends.
You can't upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical strength or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to unlock perks for your armor. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have some upgrades of the helmets and chest armor that permit you to sneak past some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed provide the user with a temporary status effect. There are five types of potions that have different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. Additionally no title of certain potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.
Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP. These can be earned by making them on a crafting table or in the Alchemist's chest. The price of upgrades will vary based on the type of potion you want to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
Once item upgrades is upgraded, it will not degrade until you make use of it again or break the bottle in which it is kept. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the mechanism of potions. For instance the splash potions now have the duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display of the item). The table of potion constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are made with dragon breath and splash potions. Similar to lingering potions, the can be enhanced by adding redstone to it. The table of potion ingredients is now arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping and the potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It could be a reference to an object or decoration that serves a purpose, but is not particularly significant, such as a thimble. In some cultures a trinket is a way to show affection or friendship between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. In contrast to other upgrades for items trinkets are able to be traded out at any time without losing their status.
The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrading a trinket is an economical alternative to buying new ones. One can upgrade a trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base level as the old trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
When the old Trinkets are no longer useful they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value with time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other pieces of gear that they will not be replacing in the near future (for instance, a ring or cloak). When deciding the items to upgrade, players must also consider the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players and they want to upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying a new one.
